Snowy Owls, one of the most beautiful of birds in the world, were hunted and killed by farmers throughout the 19th and 20th centuries because these birds are predators. But laws were passed to change all that. According to a recent article in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel,
“Birds of prey acquired greater protection in the 1970s. With very few exceptions, it is now illegal to kill an eagle, falcon, hawk or owl in North America.”
Now, with Project SNOWstorm, researchers and volunteers can gather information on the migration and living habits of these stunning birds and share that with us.
